Abstract : The analysis of film boiling of a saturated liquid about the stagnation point is presented. From this first approach macroscopic flow, an expression for the vapor layer thickness, maximum vapor velocity, and heat transfer was obtained. The effects of hydrostatic pressure gradients and radius of curvature are included. The expression for heat transfer is compared to measurement in saturated liquid nitrogen.
