Abstract : The kinetics of heterogeneous recombination of hydrogen and oxygen atoms were studied at 570-660C in a vessel coated with MgO under conditions of lower ignition limit of CO and O2 mixtures containing small additions of H2 or H-containing compounds. In some cases, the reaction mixture was diluted with N. The dependence of the lower ignition limit on the reaction temperature was determined and the reaction mechanism is discussed. Activation energies and recombination coefficients for a series of reactions were determined. Heterogeneous chain termination was found to occur in the diffusion region and absolute values of reaction rate constants can be determined by the method of ignition limits. (Author)
