Abstract : A study is made of the problem of directive gain of convex pencil-beam antennas with given magnetic currents on an ideally conducting surface of arbitrary shape whose characteristic dimensions and curvature radii significantly exceed the wavelength. A solution to the problem is obtained by an approximation method, taking into account the shielding effect of the conducting surface. The authors determine the optimum distribution of magnetic currents on ideally conducting spheres and cones, and the directive gain of such bodies.
