Abstract : The principal conclusion is that there exists in single crystals of 81-19% Ni-Fe alloy a temperature independent and k independent relaxation mechanism or combination of mechanisms which results in an X band spin wave linewidth delta H sub k of 75 Oe plus or minus 15 Oe. This corresponds to an energy relaxation time of 7.15 x 10 to the -10th power sec. for spin waves at 8.4 GHz. The fact that this PPI result is not dominated by inhomogeneous broadening has been demonstrated by achieving the same result from two samples of very different surface finish which had very different FMR resonance lines.
