Abstract : Intramuscular injection of 100 MLD of the botulinal toxin type B to guinea pigs evoked 20 minutes later some changes in their level of pyruvic acid in the tissues of the central nervous system, in the muscles and in the blood; they varied according to the intensity and trend. The quantity of pyruvic acid decreased in myelencephalon and in the spinal cord. The index of pyruvic acid virtually did not change in the cerebral hemispheres. An accumulation of pyruvic acid occurred in the muscles and in the blood. (Author)
