Abstract : Half-hourly averages of field measurements of flux rates of heat, momentum and evapotranspiration and their corresponding temperature, airspeed and moisture profiles are subjected to analysis and the resulting transfer processes described. Non-advective Australian wind velocity profile data is computer fit to four profile formulas. An analysis of the goodness of fit for each formula is undertaken. The relationship between interpretations based on measured shear stress and shear stress calculated from wind profiles is subjected to analysis. Diurnal variations of the drag coefficient, z and d and their resultant effects on the shear stress is discussed. Evaluation of the phi function of diabatic profiles in terms of the binomial profile constants is developed. The gap between the conventional engineering analysis of fluid flow over rough surfaces and the atmospheric boundary layer is tenatively bridged. The development of the drag coefficient and roughness height calculated from velocity profiles results from the analysis. Sensible heat flux measurements made during 1966 with the CSIRO Evapotron are presented. (Author)
