Abstract : In this paper monocrystals of solid solutions of barium and strontium titanates are described. The growing of the monocrystals was done in a platinum crucible from a solution of a mixture of barium and strontium titanates in potassium fluoride. The potassium fluoride was evaporated at the crystallization temperature of the solid solution and then slowly cooled down to the temperature of complete solidification. This method is based on the investigations of the crystallization surface of the system K2F2 - SrTiO3 - BaTiO3 performed at our institute at up to 1100C by the visual and polythermic method of fusibility. Because of the low solubility of the strontium and barium titanates as well as their solid solutions in potassium fluoride it was only possible to investigate a small part of the system. From electrical, optical, and X-ray data the conclusion can be drawn that obtained monocrystals of an uninterrupted series of solid solutions were obtained. (Author)
