Abstract : The effects of the length of the discharge gap and the length and diameter of the wire on the rise and the attenuation of the shock energy at different points around the source were considered. The measurements were carried out by a ballistic pendulum, with an optical goniometer for measuring the pendulum's angle of deviation from the vertical. The mass, length, and surface area of the pendulum being known constants, the energy was calculated as a function of the deviation angle. The specific shock energy as a function of the distance from the axis at various discharge gap lengths shows energy maxima at a distance from the axis. The distance of these maxima increases with the gap length, while their peak value decreases. In the case of an exploding wire, the maximum coincides with the axis, i.e., the wire. The energy distribution along line parallel to the axis shows one maximum opposite the middle of the gap lengths up to 3 cm and two symmetrical maxima at a gap length of 4 cm and over. (Author)
