Abstract : Let Oo = or < A < P, alpha sub 1, alpha sub 2,..., alpha sub n be the minimal nonnegative modulus residues of A in accordance with primes p sub 1, p sub 2,..., p sub n. Then, the expression A = (alpha sub 1, alpha sub 2,..., alpha sub n) will be a representation of the number A in the residual class system (RCS). Arithmetic operations are performed in RCS digitbydigitwise. RCSrepresentation of addition, multiplication, divison, and negative numbers is written. An RCSevaluation of an integer polynomial is given. Conversion of numbers from a generalized positional system into RCS and vice versa is explained; this conversion can be performed on an RCStype arithmetic unit.
