Abstract : Twenty-one males and 18 females were tested to find their hypnotic susceptibility, fear of failure and need for achievement. The prediction that high FF Ss would be less susceptible than low FF Ss were upheld with the male Ss. Males showed no relationship between n Ach. and hypnotic susceptibility. Female Ss showed no relationship between FF and hypnotic susceptibility while they did have a negative relationship between n Ach. and hypnotic susceptibility. It was also found that there was no difference in FF between those who volunteered for hypnosis and those who did not volunteer for hypnosis. The results were discussed in terms of the dimensions of FF which would lead to low susceptibility. Discussion also indicated the similarity of FF males and n Ach. females. (Author)
