Abstract : It was concluded that when the thicknesses of metallic layer and backing, the pressure in the bulb, and the operating regime of the bolometer bridge are correctly selected, bismuth-lead alloy bolometers produced by a evaporation in vacuo onto a celluloid backing have a sensitivity threshold lower than that of bolometers produced by other methods and comparable with the best thermal-type photoreceptors operating at room temperature.
