Abstract : A medium, prepared and tested in lab practice, can be used to determine the capacity of pure vibrio cultures to form hydrogen sulfide, which is of great importance on differentiating pathogenic from nonpathogenic vibrio cultures. The medium consists of the following: meat infusion 250 ml, peptone 15 g, cystine 0.2, sodium chloride 3, disubstituted sodium phosphate 2, sodium hyposulfite 1, ferric ammonium citrate 1, agar 1, red phenol 0.005, distilled water to make 1,000 ml.
