Abstract : Experiments were made to develop the composition of protective glass lubricants for hot extrusion of turbine blades and to evaluate various coating methods. Heating the turbine blade blanks in a bath of molten glass was found to be the technological method most likely to ensure reliable protection against scale formation on carbon and alloy steels in a wide temperature range (800-1300C).
