Abstract : Properties of polyester-resin specimens studied as functions of sizer were: ultimate static bending strength, water uptake, and degree of binder polymerization, in the dry specimens and after 30 days of soaking in water. It was found that sizers capable of reacting chemically with the resin or increasing its polymerization improve mechanical properties, and that sizer-binder chemical reactions increase dry bending strength, lower wet strength and water absorption, and promote polymerization.
