Abstract : The theory of similarity is used to investigate the mixing of a two-component medium in the presence of combustion reactions. The flow is assumed to be steady, homogeneous, and in a constant area tube. The governing flow equations are written for each component, with special emphasis on the energy equation where the two gas temperatures are unequal. From a set of ten equations, a group of seven similarity parameters is obtained. These similarity parameters correspond to the pressure force, the mixing process, the Peclet number, the convective heating, diffusion, the combustion process, and the chemical kinetics of the mixing process.
