Abstract : The new Table of the Standard Atmosphere contains the vertical distribution of the values of temperature, pressure and air density, speed of sound, acceleration of a freely falling body, dynamic and kinematic viscosity, mean length of the free path of molecules and the molecular weight of the air. The table was compiled for conditions of mean solar activity and does not take into account the possible deviations of the physical characteristics of the atmosphere from mean values. It extends to heights from 2 to 200 km and is supplemented in the appendix by recommendations for heights to 300 km. In the appendices to the table the initial parameters and computation formulas are given. The basis for computation of the table is the vertical distribution of air temperature obtained from experimental data. The temperature distribution and the equation of state of an ideal gas and the barometric formula (it is assumed that the latter is correct for the entire range of considered heights) are used for computing pressure and air density. The molecular weight in the computations is assumed to be constant to a height of 95 km; farther aloft it decreases as a result of dissociation of oxygen and at still greater heights  the dissociation of nitrogen as well under the influence of solar ultraviolet radiation.
