Abstract : Bis-Silicon peroxides were synthesized and found to rearrange thermally by a homolytic process. Relative migratory aptitudes were determined for the rearrangement process: phenyl, 1.0; p-tolyl 1.5. Sulfonyl peroxides were found to substitute aromatic nuclei by an electrophilic process to yield sulfonate esters. This new reaction of aromatic substitution has been quite exhaustively studied as to mechanism and scope. The first hydroperoxides and some new bis-peroxides of germanium have been prepared and their thermal decomposition in solution investigated. Unique tin peroxides prepared from hydrogen peroxide, dialkyltin dimenthoxides and aldehydes or ketones were prepared and their reactions subjected to a preliminary investigation. (Author)
