Abstract : The objective of the research may be formulated thus: physicochemical studies of the combustion process in flow as applied to the working process in direct flow combustion chambers of bypass gas turbine engines, and in afterburners and combustion chambers or ramjet engines. Specifically, the following problems were tackled: (1) study of the effect of various factors (mixture composition, flow velocity and turbulence, flow pressure and temperature) and flight conditions (altitude and speed) on the principal properties of the combustion process (flame velocity, combustion time, combustion zone length, rate and degree of heat release, and stabilization limits); (2) development on a scientific basis of a computation method for ramjet combustion chambers, analysis of their operation and formulation of recommendations and initial data for their design; (3) study of ways of intensifying the combustion process in ramjet combustion chambers to enable highly efficient and reliable chambers to be designed.
