Abstract : Statistical methods used in practical applications of the theory of oscillations of mechanical systems, necessitated by the presence of unaccountable factors (random variables), are discussed. Topics include: (1) Free oscillations of a system with one degree of freedom with random values of parameters under random initial conditions; (2) Oscillations of a vibrator under the influence of a random perturbing force, represented by canonical expansion; (3) Oscillations of a vibrator under the influence of a stationary random perturbing force; (4) Oscillations of a vibrator under the influence of a random perturbing force with assigned discrete frequency spectrum; (5) Oscillations of a vibrator under the influence of a random perturbing force of general form.
