Abstract : The effects of drugs and placebo on psychomotor performance and the IPAT personality test were insignificant. Evaluation of the subjective state against 27 different criteria showed frequent and marked change after administration of the four placebos as well as the four drugs. In the case of 3 out of 4 placebos there was a definite correlation of the individual 'suggestive power' of the effects on subjective state between one test finding and another. However, such correlations between the 'suggestive power' of one placebo and the 'suggestive power' of the other placebos were accidental. The IPAT music test also showed a definite correlation between increased 'suggestive power' of the Melleril and Medomine effect on the one hand and greater sociability and outgoingness on the other. The test did not provide evidence of any pathological personality traits among the volunteers with increased suggestibility. (Author)
