Abstract : In the rotating fluid of infinite extent, the motion of an obstacle along the axis always produces waves. The report details the behavior of these waves by satisfying boundary conditions on a dipole-type obstacle, which is nominally spherical in shape, so that this analysis somewhat parallels Lai's extension to Long's work, although the techniques are different. The solutions are exact (for inviscid, incompressible flow) for each body shape; no assumptions of small amplitude disturbances and wave motion are made. (Author)
