Abstract : The axisymmetric vibrations of an elastic cylindrical shell of infinite length are studied. The shell is made of a material which has a finite constant electroconductivity in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field. The induced electromagnetic field and the vibration frequency of the shell as a function of field intensity and material conductivity are determined by a simultaneous solution of Maxwell's equations and the equations of motion of the shell.
