Abstract : Evaluation used as a navigational aid can keep a program headed for its destination at the same time that it corrects for the necessary deviations from the projected course, not all of which could have been anticipated during the planning stages. By freeing us from over-commitment to our original idea which, after all, can be no more than an attempt to reach a destination by a specified route, process-oriented evaluation wisely used can ensure that we correct as we proceed and help us to arrive at our goals.
