Abstract : An engineering method is presented for calculating air-cushion vehicles (ACV) with two peripheral nozzles. The method is based on a study previously published by the author ('On the aerodynamic calculation of air-cushion vehicles.' Sb Samoletostroyeniye i tekhnika vozdushnogo flota, vyp. 6. Izd-vo KhGu, 1965). It is assumed that two peripheral jets (I and II) of an incompressible fluid join at the point K and that jet II contracts by a factor M after contacting the ground. Formulas were derived for the main characteristics of ACV's with two peripheral jets; from these characteristics the lifting capacity, the air flow rate, and the required power relative to the ACV geometry and its operating regimes can be determined.
