Abstract : A report is made of the first Air Force attempt to test the feasibility of using a computer to solve daily planning and reporting problems involved in medical food service. The computer system was designed to calculate, store, and produce yield-adjusted recipes, procurement orders, issue orders, costing, and inventory maintenance. The study was limited to only the regular diets for one week of a standard Air Force hospital three-week menu cycle. The plan was tested using actual operational data from the test hospital.
