Abstract : Classical photoelasticity makes use of birefringence measured with visible radiations. The paper gives some properties of stress-birefringence in the near ultra-violet. This technique permits more accurate measures of chromatic dispersion, because it increases the range of available wave-lengths. Experimental evidence for chromatic dispersion of isoclinics and singularities were found by using this technique. (Author)
