Abstract : The viscosity and the effect of aging on the viscosity of aluminum naphthenate and oleate soap dispersions in benzene and in T-1 organic fuel were investigated. The effect of adding various composite powders to the hydrocarbon-soap dispersions on the viscosity and mechanical strength of the resulting suspensions was studied. It was found that dispersion of Al-soaps of napthenic and oleic acids in hydrocarbon media is accompanied by formation of fibrous structures in the dispersion. The addition of metallic aluminum powder to the soap gels yielded stable suspensions, the viscosity of which is directly proportional to the viscosity of the gel. (Author)
