Abstract : Intense resonance line sources for photoionization and photochemical research have been recently developed which in some cases obviate the need for a monochromator. Most of these sources must use LiF windows to separate the high-pressure region of the discharge from the low-pressure region where irradiation takes place. These windows, however, are subject to radiation damage and must be replaced after several hours of continuous use. This paper describes a windowless far-UV light source developed for use in a photoelectron apparatus. (Author)
