Abstract : Some possibilities of determining conductivity and dielectric constant from propagation measurements are being discussed. Curves are depicted which can be used for determining the complex wave number. Measurements for frequencies between 100 and 1000 kHz and distances of up to 100 m were made in the mine of St. Gertraudi/Tyrol. These measurements are sufficiently accurate as to refute theory by means of statistical tests. Field distortions are studied and described in formulas. They are partly due to inhomogeneities or an anisotropy of the medium, partly due to the influence of the gallery cavity. (Author)
