Abstract : The work consisted of studies of two-body atomic collisions by molecular beam techniques. Three classes of collisions were investigated. The first was neutral-neutral interactions at thermal energies, which were studied by a beam-gas technique. The second was electron-neutral encounters from several electron volts up to as high as several hundred electron volts. These were studied by a crossed beam method. The last type was heavy particle collisions (i.e., either neutral-neutral or ion-neutral) from a few tenths of an electron volt to 10 or 20 eV using merging beams. (Author)
