Abstract : An experimental study of the effects of acceleration fields on the burning rate of solid propellant grains is being conducted. A variety of formulations are being studied over a range of pressures and acceleration loadings; the results will eventually be used to evaluate theoretical models of the process or to form the basis for improved models. The acceleration vector, produced by spinning a disc-shaped propellant in a large volume optical bomb, can be directed perpendicularly into or away from the burning surface. Three formulations have been studied to date under both vector orientations. (Author)
