Abstract : The performance of a typical, induction motor driven, aircraft, fuel booster pump designed for use at constant speed with a constant frequency supply was examined over a frequency range of about 2:1 and it is concluded that such a pump could be used satisfactorily on a variable frequency system. When required for use alternatively as a boost pump and as a jettison pump there would be some increase in weight but this need not be prohibitive, particularly if pole-changing is used on the motor.
