Abstract : A general review is presented of hypersonic vehicles and associated propulsion systems. Although the review is based on foreign literature sources, it is pointed out that scientists and designers are looking into the problem of 'space aviation' development. Modern science and technology is sufficiently advanced to develop vehicles for speeds ranging from 3,000 to 28,000 km/hr, at altitudes of 35 to 150 km. Beginning with this issue, the author will publish a series of articles dealing with hypersonic flights. (Author)
