Abstract : Ionospheric electron content above Haifa was determined for the period of November 1964 - June 1966, from observations of the S-66 satellite. Diurnal and seasonal variations in electron content as well as solar and magnetic activity dependence are discussed. Some results are given concerning 'slab thickness' and horizontal gradients in electron content. Amplitude recordings of the 136 MHz transmissions of the Canary Bird synchronous satellite were analysed for scintillations for the period December 1967 January 1968. Diurnal variations and probability distributions of amplitude scintillations for this period are presented. (Author)
