Abstract : The program was directed toward obtaining a better understanding of metal fiber-reinforced ceramics which would ultimately enable prediction of ceramic composite properties from composite theory. Experiments were designed to study the effect of mechanical and chemical bond between reinforcement and matrix on composite strength. Basic data were obtained from pull-out tests and wetting studies.
