Abstract : A description is given of a liquid model of the flow of air over the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the vicinity of Bishop, California. A theoretical discussion indicates that the modeling can be attempted by requiring geometric similarity of the boundaries in the fluid systems and equality of the internal Froude numbers, suitably defined. The experimental model has flow patterns that resemble the prototype quite closely although in some cases at somewhat different Froude numbers. (Author)
