Abstract : A classical eigenvalue problem for the buckling of beams is transformed into an initialvalue problem by means of invariant imbedding. This initialvalue form is particularly well suited for numerical integration. Several examples are presented to illustrate the technique and to demonstrate the accuracy of the numerical solution.
