Abstract : A comparison is made between two methods of solution of the flat plate boundary layer problem for an electrically-conducting fluid in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. The results obtained by Dukowicz by direct integration of the boundary layer equations are compared with those obtained by a simple alternative approach, the momentum integral method, and the agreement found is good. Results for wall shear stress and boundary-layer velocity distribution are presented. (Author)
