Abstract : In order to obtain a better interpretation of the plastic behavior of crystalline materials, the contributions of the dislocation density tensor and dislocation loop density tensor are incorporated directly into the parameters of connection of non-Riemannian geometry. The nature of the plastic distortion tensor is re-examined to allow for independent contributions from Nye's dislocation density tensor and Kroupa's dislocation loop density tensor. The effect of these tensors is then related directly to the parameters of the material connection by means of the plastic distortion. This procedure has the potential of allowing a more physical interpretation of the material connection since it is possible to determine experimentally Nye's and Kroupa's density tensors. The effect of these in both microscopic and macroscopic coordinates is presented in this report. (Author)
