Abstract : Experiments show aluminum foil to be the only complete protection against penetration by aromatic substances commonly found in fruits and vegetables. A double film of polyethylene and cellophane with a good adhesive is the next best. Other polyethylene based materials are unsatisfactory. Numerical results are given. (Author)
