Abstract : In this paper it is shown that by performing a certain amount of work in key sectors in semidesert regions it is possible to use aerial photographs to interpret the nature of the upper water-bearing horizon of ground water and the conditions under which ground water is found to depths as great as 10-12 m, that is, to a depth where the presence of the ground water table still has physicogeographic effects. The fundamental method for the hydrogeological interpretation of aerial photographs is the landscape method. This method takes into account the entire complex of hydroindicators: vegetation, relief, soils and ground types, as well as the patterns of their spatial distribution. (Author)
