Abstract : N, N-Diallylamides of dicarboxylic acids were polymd. in the solid state at room temp. and under Co irradn. (1060 rads/sec.) Aliphatic amides polymerized faster than aromatic amides. Thus polyamides of N, N-diallylamides of oxalic, malonic, succinic, glutaric, adipic, sebacic, and ethylmalonic acids were obtained in 86-96% yields and phthalic, isophthalic, and terephthalic acids in 41-72% yields. With the exception of poly(N, N-diallyloxalamide) which was pink, the prepared aliphatic polyamides were yellow, and the aromatic polyamides were red-violet. By subsequent irradiation of yellow crystalline poly (N, N'-diallylmalonamide) the polymer became blue, apparently, due to the presence of free radicals, which decayed with time. (Author)
