Abstract : The hypergeometric probability distribution is the appropriate distribution to use when sampling from a finite population without replacement. Because of the difficulty in calculating probabilities and confidence limits, computers are generally required for quick and accurate results. This paper, however, illustrates an expedient method to quickly and accurately obtain hypergeometric solutions for the more frequent case where less than one-half of the population is to be sampled. The method utilizes binomial graphs generated by a computer plotter. These graphs may also be used conveniently to solve typical binomial confidence problems. (Author)
