Abstract : The overall efficiency of an ac electrically-driven fuel booster pump over a wide range of frequency has been reported in a general performance study. To find the effect of speed on the efficiency of the pump itself, the input-output characteristics of the motor alone have been measured so that the motor and pump losses could be separated. The maximum pump efficiency varies from 10% at about 2500 rev/min to 37% at about 7500 rev/min. In addition to supplementing the earlier work, it was considered worthwhile to present the results since they may prove of more general interest regarding centrifugal pump characteristics. (Author)
