Abstract : The effect of extensive (up to 40 percent) plastic deformation by pulling, compression, or torsion at room temperature on the static crack and fatigue strengths of chromium-nickel-tungsten-niobium steel 1Kh14N18V2BR1 was boron additive (steel EI-726) was investigated at elevated temperatures. The steel 1Kh14N18V2BR1 was subjected to standard heat treatment: hardened at 1170 degrees, air-cooled, and tempered at 1750 degrees for 25 hours. Samples were then subjected to plastic deformation at 20 degrees or at 700 degrees. (Author)
