Abstract : The purpose of the research reported here is to measure the radiation resistance of a small transducer placed at an air-water surface and near various combinations of plane boundaries and then obtain a theoretical model to fit the data. Since Sherman has shown that a small radiator at an air-water surface behaves like a dipole in an infinite medium one is encouraged to propose this as the acoustic source to explain the measurements. When a dipole-image model is used to fit the experimental results for the transducer near the various boundary combinations, good agreement is obtained. (Author)
