Abstract : The significance of maintaining equal Reynolds numbers (Re) on both sides of a nozzle during the calibration of nozzle type water meters in an air flow was examined. This requirement is not essential in the calibration at Re is greater than 5.8 times 10 (to the 3rd power) and air flow rates 10-22 m./sec. cylindrical or spherical nozzles with lateral aperatures positioned within 30 to 35 degrees from the nozzle axis. Suggestions are given concerning nozzle calibration for high water flow rates. (Author)
