Abstract : Expressions for the quasi-static range magnetic-field components, produced by a finite length horizontal electric antenna located near the earth's surface, were derived by employing image theory. The two situations considered were where (1) the source is located at the earth's surface and the receiving antenna is elevated (z greater than or equal to 0) and (2) the receiving antenna is located at the earth's surface, but the height of the source is much less than an earth skin depth. When z and either x or y = 0, or when the measurement distance is much greater or much less than the source length or the earth skin depth or both, the expressions reduce to previously derived results.
