Abstract : Let a given psychometric test consist of n subtests. Let the scores on the various subtests be denoted by X1, X2,...,Xn. The test is scored ipsatively if an individual's total score on the test is always equal to a given constant c; X1+X2+...Xn = c for each individual. The paper gives bounds for the mean correlation coefficient and proves them. Results obtained are extended to tests where wieghted ipsative scoring is employed.
