Abstract : R-C networks with time constants within 1% of the design value and stable within 1% over the temperature range of -40 to 125C were made by designing metal film resistors to complement the characteristics of commercially available capacitors. For time constants up to 75 milliseconds, NPO ceramic capacitors offer small size and low cost. Polycarbonate capacitors were used for longer time constants. Networks containing ceramic capacitors offered no difficulty because the temperature characteristics of the capacitors can be matched by standard resistors. Metal film resistors can be manufactured with non-standard temperature coefficients which provide good compensation for polycarbonate capacitors. (Author)
